Why Go to Church on Saturday?
With the majority of the Christian world going to church on Sunday, why would we choose to go to church on Saturday?
A quick answer is, because Jesus did so, and He is our great example. The Sabbath is a memorial of creation. The Bible starts in Genesis with the account of God creating the earth, culmination with God resting on the Sabbath day with his creation. A thorough searching of the scriptures will show no result of the Sabbath ever being nor done away with. God still rests with His people on the Seventh-day, and He expects them to do so too, in fact, He commanded it... |
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shall thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made the heaven and the earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exodus 20:8-11
Does that sound familiar? That is right, that comes from the Ten Commandments. God set apart a certain day for us to spend with Him (and Him with us). Be sure not to miss out on receiving the blessing of spending that time together with God.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will reject thee...seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God... Hosea 4:6
With all the ways we can study, read, listen to and Bible today, we have no excuse for not knowing what the Bible says. Don't take anyone's word blindly, check it for yourself. Many people only know what is in the Ten Commandments from reading a condensed plaque, or a paraphrased copy, or from listening to their priest, minister or pastor, but have never read them for themselves. Your salvation is too important to leave it in the hands of someone else, no matter how well intentioned they might be. |
